Move is pretty much done
I've just spent the morning trying to uncover enough useful items to eat, set up a computer and get some work done etc etc.
Getting there.. :)
I've also remembered this funny thing called dialup. It's pretty useful. :P
And now I have a couple of hours left in the day to do IV stuff and TAFE work. Eek.

Doogle
I love Citilan
I have moved all of my stuff into the new house.. Alasdair is moving his stuff in tonight. Meanwhile I am still waiting for the power and phone to work. And even if said power and phone worked.. it may be 3 weeks until we have ADSL at the new house. Bummer. Either way, I have decided to make friends with the staff at the Caledonian Hotel, which is located at a Citilan Hotspot. Deal is: I buy drinks and they let me use their power point. :) Okay, so if I had a laptop where the power supply actually worked I wouldn't even have to make that deal. Doesn't matter. This works. And they have comfy leather couches.
Jo's wedding yesterday was fantastic. She is now well and truly a Mrs and loving it. I danced with the bridesmaids and kiddies for quite a while.. then hung around with the chorister types. It ended pretty early.. but since I was absolutely stuffed I wasn't complaining too much.
I'm still stuffed today because I got up at 6:30am to unpack as much as I could before Alasdair starts moving shit in tonight. Blergh, Tired!
Well, this afternoon I plan to invite a few people around to actually see the inside of the place. All I can do to entertain is make tea or drink warm white wine.. but at least we have an outdoor setting to sit on :)
EDIT The Oxford has much better citilan than the Caledonian. :) And Ox
Burgers. :)

Telegraph | News | Millions of Chinese hit as poisoned river blights northern city
Telegraph | News | Millions of Chinese hit as poisoned river blights northern city: "All tap water supplies to Harbin, which has a population 3.5 million, were cut on Tuesday as the authorities finally admitted that an explosion at a petrochemical plant more than 200 miles upstream had released benzene into the Songhua river."
Not only does this shit me because it's an ecological disaster created by humans, but it shits me that the government covered up for the company involved for more than a week! Why do we let companies get away with this sort of crap?!?!
Oh, shite.. back to packing my house up. :)

"The Derivative Song", by Tom Lehrer
"The Derivative Song", by Tom Lehrer: "The Derivative Song:
You take a function of x and you call it y,
Take any x0 that you care to try,
Make a little change and call it delta-x,
The corresponding change in y is what you find nex',
And then you take the quotient, and now carefully
Send delta-x to zero and I think you'll see,
That what the limit gives us, if our work all checks,
Is what we call dy/dx, it's just dy/dx."

John Safran Vs God
John Safran Vs God: "Episode 7 : 11th October 2004.
Encouraged by Australian soccer legend Johnny Warren, John travels to Mozambique to lift the thirty year curse on the Australian soccer team... but will he be successful?"
I saw a thing on TV last night where they were getting all excited about John Safran lifting the curse on soccer.. which was weird because I remember seeing the episode. But, apparently they did a survey before the match asking people to say whether they thought John Safran had successfully reversed the curse. Something crazy like 83% of people were convinced that he had.
And then we won.
I am so weirded out by that. :)

Katie Noonan and the Australian Chamber Orchestra
ABC Classic Morning ShowNovember 18th Morning Show
Listen from 16:29 - 21.04
This is absolutely, amazingly gorgeous. I happened to be listening to the radio when it was played.
Craig has kindly mp3'd that snippet for me so if anyone wants it let me know!! I'm also in the process of getting the ABC to let me buy it officially.. preferably the concert it was recorded from. Yum.

Mark's party
Oh yeah and Mark had a 30th birthday BBQ that was really cool this afternoon.. Currently the AUCS types have congregated on my house.. but since Osk and Alasdair were watching movies when people got here they have all found themselves in the lounge watching Troy.. which I found to be terminally boring and I just can't be bothered watching it again. So I'm hiding in my room with my laptop and my music until people start actually being sociable and talking to each other instead of watching that shite.

Adelaide Effect
I told Holly that I had a new house in Childer's Street.. and described that it was a big house with some doors closed off and we had the front of the house etc.. and she says "Oh, does it have a big grey fence?" And I'm like "Yeah.." and she continues with "Yeah and very high ceilings.. huge white walls etc?" (and I'm still nodding) "..And the lounge is huge.. with a dining room on the left and two huge rooms to the right.. with the kitchen down the back?" (more nodding from me) and she says "Yeah I know the people who just moved out.. I went to their new years party". Hehe. Go Adelaide. :)

Two fantastic cocktails I need to share
Flaming Fairy
1/2 cup Apple Juice
30ml Apple Schnapps
Put a large circular slice of apple on top
Slowly pour 30ml Pernod (Absinthe) over the top so it sits mainly above the apple
Set on fire
While on fire, liberallly shake a mixture of sugar and cinnamon over the top (and watch pretty, burning stuff)
Blow it out
Turn the apple over a few times and stir it lghtly so it looks cloudy
Sticky Apple
30ml Strawberry Liquer
30ml Butterscotch Schnapps
1/2 cup Apple Juice

Jo's Hen's night
BTW all, Jo's hen's night was great. I think she is thoroughly happy that we are all just as nice as we said we were.. and we didn't make her see naked men or anything. She just had to wear a teensy tiara all night. We had awesome cocktails and dida bit of dancing. Yay! She loved it and wanted to do the exact same thing more often. Apparently Phil came home attached to a ball and chain his friends kindly made out of a basketball and concrete. That and they covered him in sticky stuff like honey and then made him purple with potassium pomangenate. Poor bastard.

Cat Reference
I had to get a written cat reference for this new house (Increased our chances etc). Given that Adrian had never been asked for anything quite so silly in his life, I found the response to be really cute.
This letter is to confirm that for an 18 month period during 2003 and 2004, Schroedinger and her owner Ms. Angela Randall boarded at my primary place of residence. Schroedinger was fully house-trained and at no time did she defecate or urinate inside the house other than in her kitty-litter. She did not damage or cause damage to any furniture in the house and confined her claw-sharpening to an appropriate scratching post. Schroedinger shared the house with another elderly female cat, and while there were occasional personality clashes, these were not significant and did not disturb the sleep of either myself or Ms. Randall. In summary, Schroedinger is well-trained, intelligent and a good-natured cat and I would not hesitate to commend her to any home-owner.

it's completely against everything we know
Angela says:
if they can prove it to be right it will solve one of the big power problems we have been trying to work on forever

Big Decisions
Yesterday I decided to offer to sell my third of the house to Jayne, Vincent or the two of them. It will make starting a business far easier if I have a pile of cash to fall back on. Hopefully it won't be needed, but even for cash flow issues it would be useful.

Weirdness
Well, I finally got my braces fixed up after they met the evil-deceptively-hard-piece-of-brocolli on Monday night. Still not sure what that was about..
Time for some actual work.
