I've been listening to Small Change by Tom Waits (which I haven't really listened to before). There are some fucking excellent one-liners on the album but I can only remember a few at the moment and two of them are from the same song:

"And the band is awful and so are the tunes"
"And I'm getting harder than Chinese algebrassieres"

"And I don't have a drinking problem, 'cept when I can't get a drink"

i always liked "the carpet needs a haircut" i once heard it stated that tom waits gets his tone from his smoking and his phrasing from his drinking lol
