Well, I think I was chosen for this speech because of all the FUCS people I’ve known over the years. I began FUCS in 1996 and have not missed a single concert since, so I’ve seen many people come and go in that time. Conductors, accompanists, presidents, committees, general choristers and exchange students. We’ve known so many people; Some for just one concert; Others for many years. Most of us join a choir like FUCS for the singing. We want to have a good sing and a good time. We never expect just how well those relationships will develop in that time spent in choir. All of us have made at least one close friend in choir. Some have also found a lover. Some, like Daniel and Fiona, have found a lover who was perfect enough to marry. It’s these relationships between choristers which keep the momentum of the choir going. We need to nurture the relationships and remember the friends fondly when they are gone. So now I would like to list off a few notable names of absent friends who will not be forgotten.
